Or, The Story So Far

The journey to being addressed as the Founder and Principal Designer of Studio Obliq, started when I enrolled for a bachelor’s degree in Applied Art from Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai. Immediately after graduation, I deep dived into the world of advertising. A world I inhabited for almost a decade with stints across leading multinational advertising agencies such as FCB Ulka and Grey Worldwide (Creative Head). After which I worked as a brand consultant at various companies, a notable one amongst them being Gitanjali Gems.  

Some of the major brands that I have created work for:

Amul, Castrol, Zodiac Shirts, TATA Indica, Novartis, Parle and Parle Agro, Kinetic Honda, Bell Ceramics, Pantene, Wyeth (Anne French), D’damas, Haier TV, Novartis and Orbit White.

And then came a fork in the road…

There comes a time when the learning curve needs to rise high again. So, despite the excitement of coming up with an innovative idea or a marketing solution, I knew it was time for a break. Time to invest in a new love for creating innovative décor products. A love that was discovered while undertaking courses at National Institute of Design, India’s premier design school. A love that led to the inception of Obliq Studio – a platform that allowed me to create conceptually strong and finely executed works of art.

Décor design was a welcome and stimulating addition to my core skills of communication and graphic design. This combination of skills helps me to create works of passion that straddle different worlds. Work that makes clients smile in appreciation. Work that helps me bask in the warm glow of satisfaction. Work that keeps my thinking fresh.

And how do I continue to feed my passion? Definitely not by subscribing to the ‘All work, no play’ belief. After I deliver a project, I recharge my creative mojo by doodling, photography, watching movies and travelling.
